Janet Turner Print Museum
Where in the World Is Janet?
Just as Janet traveled the globe collecting prints that inspired her learning and the education of her students, today Janet’s art work can also be found worldwide – from the largest museums to private collections.
Over the past several years the Janet Turner Print Museum has worked diligently to locate Janet’s works of art; nationally and internationally. We know more than 200 of Janet’s prints or paintings are part of collections in some 80 colleges and museums, and numerous private collections, including:
- Benzali National Museum, Jerusalem;
- Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris
- Victoria and Albert Museum, London
- Society of Wildlife Art of the Nation's, Gloucester, England
- Metropolitan Museum of Art
- Philadelphia Museum of Art
- Cleveland Museum of Art
- Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
- The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco
- Brooklyn Museum of Art
- Portland Art Museum (Oregon)
- Wm. Rockhill Nelson Museum, Kansas City
- Heard Natural Science Museum, Houston
- Dallas Museum of Fine Arts
- The Museum of East Texas, Lufkin
- National Museum of American Art, Washington, DC
- Smithsonian Institute, Washington, DC
This is just a small sample. We, the board members of the Janet Turner Print Museum, want to locate the many patrons that have purchased and/or own one or more of Janet’s treasured works of art. It is one way we are helping to assure the future of the museum and the value and legacy of Janet Turner’s art.
We Need Your Help!
This request is not solely for the documentation of provenance. It is our goal to one day host a reunion of all of Janet’s patrons. No doubt, this will require some detective work. However, we think the results will kindle interest, create comradeship and just be plain fun, thus maintaining the popularity and financial value of Janet’s art.
If you own a Janet Turner works of art or know someone who does, please email or write us to let us know “where in the world” it is located. If possible, please attach a photo of the patron(s) standing next to the piece(s) of Janet’s work. A short paragraph describing how you knew Janet and/or how you came to own your Turner would also be appreciated!
